It was a weekday and I was looking at some textile at Puregold Department Store here in the Philippines when lo and behold, Puregold staff stood up and danced to Charice's song Louder!

And they were goooood.

The killer of Charice's father has surrendered

Charice is sad, mad, angry and relieved at the turn of events regarding the murder of his father Ricky Pempengco.

The killer of Charice's father has surrendered to authorities.

The killer whose name is - ironically - Angel Capili apologizes to Charice and her family but insists that what he did was self defense.

Charice finds this hard to accept and considers this as a blatant lie.

According to Charice:


"inconsistent po ang sinasabi niya kanina, self defense ang ginawa niya kaya siya ang may hawak ng weapon at walang hawak ang daddy ko, self defense kaya di pala siya kilala ng daddy ko. Sabi niya sinapak daw siya ng daddy ko, never magagawa ng daddy ko na manakit ng tao lalo' hindi niya kilala."


"What he is saying is inconsistent. He said what he did was self-defense but it was he who had a weapon and not my daddy. He also said that daddy punched him first, daddy would never do that specially to someone he does not know."


I totally agree with Charice on this. It is so odd for someone to carry a deadly weapon - in Angel Capili's case it was an ice pick - while buying a cigarette (which was what Angel was doing before he stabbed Ricky Pempengco).

When asked if she can still find in her heart to forgive Capili, Charice replied: "Hindi ko alam kasi kahit anong sorry ang sabihin niya di ko ma-feel. Dinadamay pa niya ang daddy ko na sinuntok daw siya, dadamay mo pa wala na nga. May witness na nanakakita sinaksak na nga niya tinatanong ng daddy ko 'bakit mo ako sinaksak eh wala naman akong atraso sa iyo?' Binalikan pa niya kasi buhay pa. Sira na nga ang pamilya namin lalo pa niyang sinira.

"I do not know, even if he apologizes many times, I cant feel his sincerity. He is blaming my father and claims that my daddy punched him. There is a witness who saw him stab daddy and heard my daddy ask, `Why did you stab me, I did no wrong to you.' The killer even went back to finish off my father because he saw my daddy was still alive. My family's already in a dire predicament, he made it worse."

Gusto kong dalawin siya... gusto kong sabihin sa kanya na gusto kong bigyan ng tamang hustisya ang daddy ko. Gusto kong sabihin sa kanya na maayos na kinuha mo ang buhay ng daddy ko, kailangan mong pagbayaran ng buhay din."

"I want to see him, I want to tell him that I want to give my daddy justice. I want to tell him that he took my father's life - let's deal with this an eye for an eye."

RIP Ricky Pempengco - Charice's father

According to news reports, Charice's father died due to multiple stab wounds.

The incident occurred on Oct 30, 2011 at Charice's hometown of Laguna.

The suspect, reportedly a certain Angel Capili, stabbed Charice's father while the latter was making a purchase from a store at A. Bonifacio Street, Langgam Village, San Pedro.

After learning of the incident, this is what Charice tweeted on her account:

"Gusto ko lang malaman nyo, na we had a really great relationship bago nangyari lahat ng gulo. Sinabi niya sa akin nung ako'y bata pa na hindi actually alam ni mommy, gusto nya akong maging sundalo kasi sabi niya matapang daw ako. I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all."




"I want all of you to know that we (my father and I) had a really great relationship before all this happened. Unbeknownst to mommy, he told me when I was a child that he wanted me to be a soldier because he said I was brave. I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all."






Unfortunately, the relatives and siblings of Charice's father issued negative reactions towards Charice and her mother causing Charice to tweet another emphatic message on Twitter on November 1:

"para sa mga kapatid ng daddy ko, wala kayong karapatang sabihin o hulaan ang nararamdaman ko. Sino kayo para sabihing masaya ako sa pagkawala ng SARILI KONG AMA?"

"Sinabi nyo pa na wag gamitin ang apelyido nya. Hindi pinagbawal ni mommy na dalawin ang daddy namin pero HINDI NIYO KAMI PINAYAGAN. Wala kayong respeto sa PAMILYA NYA para sabihin nyo yan ngayon. Imbis na ayusin nyo, sinisira nyo pa!

"You even told me not to use his last name. Mommy never told us not to go to daddy but IT WAS ALL OF YOU who didn't want US TO. You have no respect for HIS FAMILY to say alL the things you are saying now. Instead of fixing the problem, you're making it worse!"

"Alam ko na nagalit ako sa kanya! Pero hindi ko sinabing itinakwil ko sya."

"I know that I was angry at him! But I never said that I disowned him."

"matagal akong naging tahimik sa mga eskandalong ginagawa nyo. Pero ngayon, di ko na kaya pati sa pagkamatay niya GANYAN PARIN KAYO. Hindi ako takot. Lalo na sa mgataong walang respeto."

"I have long been quiet about all the scandals you made. But now, I cannot do this anymore. Even in his death ALL OF YOU ARE STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I am not afraid. Specially against those people who have no respect."

The Gil she is referring to is Gil Duldulao (Janet Jackson's choreographer.  Gil has worked with Janet Jackson for more than 14 years. He has also performed with Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

How true? Is there a real rivalry between Charice and Lea Michele?

Charice will reportedly no longer appear in Glee because the DIVA of the show -- Lea Michele -- is making their on-screen rivalry true off-screen by pressuring the producers to get Charice off the show because she is intruding on Lea Michele star.

Honestly, this could just be a press release because Charice's presence on Glee might not have the OOMPH it once had when she first sang and appeared on the show.

Now, maybe the media powers-that-be are cooking up a false rivalry to get the attention back on Charice and make her not just a novelty Glee star but a full fledged personality.

Plus, Charice is making a movie and maybe-the-powers that be want Charice to be in the limelight in time for the movie's opening.

Who knows?

Or Maybe, Charice is just really too busy with other singing schedules she really cannot make time for a Glee episode shoot.
